John Williams has been the Director of Bands at Terre Haute North Vigo High School since 2014. He is the director of the wind ensemble, jazz bands, and pep band, and also teaches History of Rock and Roll, and AP Music Theory. Mr. Williams also co-directs the Patriot Brigade.
Prior to arriving at Terre Haute North, Mr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Music from East Tennessee State University in 2005. He was the assistant director of bands at Cocke County High School in Newport, Tennessee where the jazz band, concert band, and marching band consistantly recieved top honors in festivals and contests. In 2009, Mr. Williams completed a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting at Indiana State University and in 2012 became the Director of Athletic Bands at Indiana State University. In 2015, he completed a Specialist in Music Education degree from Indiana University. Mr. Williams is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction program at Indiana State University.
Mr. Williams has presented research at the Committee on Institutional Cooperation Music Education Research Conference, Mothers of Preschool Children, the Meis Center for Student Development Center, and the 10th Annual Indiana State University Ethics Conference.
Mr. Williams married his beautiful wife, Sara Williams, in 2005. In 2010, they celebrated the birth of their son Ty Williams. In 2014 celebrated the birth of their second son Taj Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Williams have grown to love Terre Haute and enjoy taking their boys to the many parks and events that the area has to offer. They are big fans of the Clemson Tigers, ISU Sycamores, and Cincinnati Reds.
